Keeping two pairs of skates for different scenarios is becoming a common way of life for the aggressive inline skating community.  Tri Skates - 125mm and/or 100mm wheels opens a door to aggressive inline skating obstacles that couldn't be skated before.  Tri Skating makes traveling a lot easier covering distances with speed and effort that seemed only achievable by bike with more of a burn on the legs but easier on the knees.  However the smaller wheels 54mm - 60mm can be the smoothest ride on concrete waves, and can be a greater technicality when trying to grind obstacles and avoiding wheel bite.  Smaller wheels can erode quicker and can find cracks, and a rocky asphalt to be the next scrape on their knees.  rollerBANGER Mike Obedoza and Ryan Northway found an old bank to be similiar to that of a secret level in a video game, unlocking obstacles that couldn't be skated on small wheels.  Swept the runway with smallest broom in the world and caught this wall-ride.

Thrive Inline Skate School

Mike-Obedoza-Thrive-Inline-Teaching.jpg

rollerBANGER Mike Obedoza, has been an Aggressive Inline Skater for over 20 years and took a certification class to teach inline skating from the Skate Instructors Association.  Looking to give back to his hometown, he offers free inline skate classes to the kids in his hometown, skatepark located in Carson, California at Veterans Park.

Beginning with teaching the fundamentals of learning the perfect fall, Coach Obe encourages these kids to get back up, try again, and will guide these new skaters safely to their first strides on their inline skates.  Through this process, the kids not only learn how to blade but the kids develop courage, patience, and persistence.

Blading Cup 2016 Street Art

Blading Cup 2016 Street Art

Chuck Cauton, blading tattoo artist individually does all of the art work on the obstacles that is provided for the Blading Cup.  The spray paintings stylistically plays along with the event - Dia De Los Muertes which is held in Downtown Santa Ana.

The obstacles are created by the brothers Tim and Ernie Franken that are going to be opening up a Hot dog stand in Long Beach called Franken Fries - Coming Soon!  The Luxarmor team along with Carlos Jaquez and the Franken brothers; saw, hammer, nail, & screw all of the pieces to complete the inline skating course.  Hand-rails, wavy obstacles, and quarter pipes for the demo.

Without this team the roller blade event would not be as awesome as it is.  Thanks to the volunteers that dedicate their time and efforts into making this event the best that it possibly could be.

Here are the images from 2016 as we look foward to the upcoming event in 2017.

Fathers Day

Fathers Day

Mother's get their day in May with Mother's day, and on Father's day there's not much we really want to do but, Roller Blade.  The rollerBANGERS, or otherwise known as the #bladerdads Chuck Cauton, Ryan Northway, and Anthony Williams gathered on Father's day that Sunday morning in 2017 at Schweitzer skatepark in Anaheim just to go inline skating.  The Blader Dad's all left by noon to be Dad's to their kids but, that session before was getting the excuse to do whatever they wanted to do that day.  Shout out to all of the blader Dad's that make it out to skate regardless of kids and other responsibilities they have to fulfill as Father's.  This is a shout out to Blader Dad's.

rollerBANGER Jon Julio celebrates his 40th Birthday Party at Woodward West

Jon Julio's 40th Birthday Party

It was an honor to attend Jon Julio's 40th Birthday Party at what is metaphorically the Disneyland for action sports - Woodward West.

There are an infinite amount of skateparks and ramps and obstacles and its a little bit of an overload as to try and make a decision on what to skate first.  But, when things get settled in, the floors are smoother than tennis courts, and the obstacles are fun with only a matter of having to choose how much time you want to spend in one area.

Jon Julio Fifty - 50 Fishbrain - Fishbrain - grind plates

I don't know how long Jon Julio has been a pro-inline skater but, I remember having this exact fifty-50 ad in the photo above on my folder somewhere circa 1997-1999.  At the time, I was more than happy to let my homies from Carson High see my inspiration, Jon Julio, there was a Filipino Pro Blader doing big things.  Finding Filipino heroes in the states wasn't the most popular thing growing up in the city of Carson, California.  The amazing thing is that Jon is an inspiration to more than just the Filipino's but everyone who has ever rode a pair of Roces Majestics.

But, everyone here at rollerBANGER wants to wish a very big Happy Birthday to Jon Julio.

Thank you for continuing all of the activities you do for Aggressive Inline Skating / Blading and long live Themgoods & Valo Inline Skates
