Like all legendary spots, they will die but, will never be forgotten. Hubba’s hideout in Northern California, The Brooklyn Banks in New York, and Southern California’s Dolphin Park, will all be given a hard good-bye from the aggressive inline skating community.
This circle hole has been a treasure chest for Blader’s. Of all wheel sports, Blading is best at this spot that rewards speed with a specific step - a crossover, that only inline skaters can understand, as each step creates a vortex of energy, making those soul grinds that are a bit harder at the skatepark a lot more feasible.
A home to Vandals, Blader’s were able to relax in a secret oasis, hidden from the main roads, a locals only spot. It wasn’t long before anyone passing through to Los Angeles from Orange County, would discover this sacred location, and had to make a stop every chance given. It was then extended to people further beyond the Los Angeles area, and became an internationally recognized skate spot, with visitors from the UK coming through to join in on the event.
However, on this day, we gathered to say farewell to this legendary skate spot. The wading pool will be demolished making home to a 3 million dollar donation that is going to be converted to a handicap playground.
Dolphin Park in Carson, California has been home to the rollerBANGERS and it was necessary to bid a proper farewell with the premiere of a 3 year old roller Blading video project, the Carson rollerBANGER VOD and a BBQ with Mike Obedoza, Blading with Chef Knives, and Jeremy “juice” Almodovar with Filipino infused tacos.
The tacos not photo’d here was extremely well received, and it would be a shame if we could not share these Filipino flavors with everyone at every event. With the positive response, we took that energy and tested the menu even further and are working hard to share these delicious treats in your neighborhood.
